Here is a tip for reading my book or other writing...

I use the following four phrases interchangeably (i.e. to mean the exact same thing):

- "being an addict"

- "being a slave to temptation"

- "being a prisoner to the comfort zone"

- "lacking spiritual freedom (a.k.a. self-discipline)"


Needless to say, addiction isn't black and white. In my book, "In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All", I discuss in detail the fact that all humans are on the addiction spectrum.

My book will help you live a life with much more loving free-spirited inner peace. It will help you escape the comfort zone and achieve true happiness.

I think I'm inclined to agree and your four different phrases help to show different perspectives on addiction. The word addiction in the current climate has bad connotations in relating to things with think of as wrong - alcohol, drugs etc. However, we can also be addicted to seemingly harmless things as well like our hobbies. I've never thought of how liking being in your comfort zone is akin to being addicted, but I believe you are right.

I completely agree. Addiction is never black and white. When I say to my friends I am addicted to reading fiction, they think it is good. But reading is my comfort zone. In this case, perhaps, I am being a prisoner to my comfort zone.
