Anyone old enough to remember the War in Vietnam ? An undeclared war where about 55,000 men of my age were killed

- Supposedly based on 'the Domino Theory" - If Vietnam falls, then all of Southeast Asia will go the Communists.

The United States, like in Afghanistan years later, lost badly - And all of Southeast Asia did not go the Communists !

So what? - 55,000 dead from my generation, not to mention deaths on the other side and civilian causalities, But the military industrial complex made plenty of money and the population was reduced without a need for so many abortions ! {A win for 'the right to life" crowd ?!?}

But alas, the President Lyndon Johnson was a good Liberal Democrat so all was well, right?

People do not let them fool you into thinking the bought and paid for Supreme Court just gave the President dictatorial power and ended Democracy - Democracy was dead a long time ago - Ask anyone from my generation who died in Vietnam about it.

Did you hear that??

That crack in the world. Know what that sound is? That is the sound of the end of Democracy in the USA.

250 years ago the people of America decide to sack the King. Today they hve decided to re-instate the office giving powers to the President far in excess of any King of England has had for 700 years.

Surely it is the duty of Biden ot use that new power;
1) Arrest Donald Trump for his crimes.
2) acquire a pardon for doing soi.
3) Disband the Supreme Court
4) Re appoint new judges who will recind this idiotic ruling with special and temporary immunity for himself.

Unless the Democrats can get a new and viable presidential candidate they loose the next election and Trump could become dictator.

It is very worrying to see how the separation of powers has been eroded in the US. Trump laid the groundwork for this with his stacking of the Supreme Court. When he gets back in, this will work in Trump's favor as he strives to increase his power and perpetuate his rule. Also of concern is the swing towards the hard-right across Europe and elsewhere. All this is occurring against the back-drop of growing corporate power, increasing inequality, and the growth of AI. And, in the US, there is an aggrieved and deluded civilian population armed to the teeth with lethal weapons.

If Trump gets back in with a majority in both houses of Congress, and with a compliant Supreme Court, there will be no check on his power. His brown-shirt thugs will be allowed to run riot and civil unrest will give him an eexcuse to use emergency powers in an attempt to continue beyond the second term allowed by the Constitution. The Trump Supreme Court will rule against any challenges to this. He’ll promote gerrymandering in the states so that he will have two thirds of Congress who will vote for a change to the Constitution, and three-fourths will who will ratify the change. This will allow him to rule indefinitely. Once he is securely in power and backed by the Supreme Court, and by the billionaires and corporations, he will then take the guns off the populace so that there can be no popular uprising against him. The NRA and the gun manufacturers will be steered towards production for the military and state security forces.

I fear that this is how democracy will end in the United Sates. And, if that happens, a weakening of NATO is likely and, if this occurs, resultant world geopolitical upheavals are too horrible to contemplate.
