Your answer to this question can be silly or deep, whichever you prefer. What is your favorite quote in the book? I have a few that I highlighted...

Favorite quote #1:
"Silly ego, choices are for spirits." - Page 116, relating to the idea that the ego thinks it can control factors that lead to happiness (essentially throwing roadblocks into the way of happiness). I loved this quote because I remember the Trix cereal commercial from my childhood.

Favorite quote #2:
"...you are a droplet of the divine, a wave on the surface of an indivisible ocean." - Page 136. I have no lofty reason for loving this quote - I just thought the writing was beautiful.

My favorite quote in the book is located on page 4 (so it definitely made we want to keep reading).
"Fulfillment causes desire and goals to be replaced, not eliminated." We have to have goals in life; if we don't, then what will we strive for? I loved this because it's saying that when we reach one goal, we set another, hopefully more lofty one.

There are a lot of striking quotes in "In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All." However, this one currently moves me: "Time is a spiritual teacher, brutal but effective." The message here is so deep, and it has positively changed my perception of certain things.

I agree and it's so true! A life without goals feels really ho hum, even if they aren't goals that are written down somewhere.

With age comes wisdom? Because that's the truth.

That's my favorite quote too. I tend to try and grasp all the wisdom I can when I'm young, but after reading that, I calmed down a bit, and tried to realize my focus rather than discovering everything out there.

For me, there were several quotes that really made you double-check your personal philosophies but one of my favorite quotes in the book is "If the word "suffering" simply means having unfulfilled desire, then to be human is to suffer."

My favourite quotes are:

"The comfort zone is a sticky dark trap, a spiritual prison for those who aren't careful." (Location 582 - Kindle version)

and

"Man suffers only because he takes seriously what the gods made for fun." (quote by Alan Watts, location 2406 - Kindle version)

This one really sticks with me as well. I agree with you when you say there are a lot of "striking quotes", picking a favorite would be hard. But I'm starting a reread, and this time I've got my notes.

Answer: My favorite quote in the book is found on page 109:

"To find peace, simply stop fighting."

Yes, I agree, that is the winning strategy!

My favorite quote is from p.113:
"In any case, allow that which is out of your control to be as it is—for it will be as it is regardless. Accept it. Love it. Laugh at it if you want, conceptually or literally."

Truly, that's a huge challenge, and that is where lies inner peace and happiness.

I loved this one too. I feel like I really resonated with the way it was written. I agree with you when you say that when we reach one goal, we'll strive to accomplish another, loftier one!

This is so true. I'm still young and have so much to learn and experience, but even I know that nothing teaches you about life more than living it!

1. "...suffer, once fulfills current desires, more desires emerge" pg. 4
2. "eyes" are always closed" reminds me of a quote that my mom and I say frequently "For those who have eyes see clearly!"
3. Pg. 25 "undesireable habit you are struggling to change"....."props in the common human struggle against temptation and misery".
4. pg. 25 "crazy little play on this crazy little stage (Earth)"
