Looking for recommendations of good books or articles dealing with the weighing up of different rights or the weighing of potentially incommensurable values more generally. Preferably not ones about the legal system or those treating rights as only instrumentally valuable.

If you haven't already read it, I highly recommend William James' essay "The Moral Philosopher and the Moral Life".

Thanks for the rec, but that might be a bit too anti-objectivist for my purposes.
