I find the various names which people go by on the site as significant and I am wondering why people have chosen them. My first name is Jack and I chose Daydream because in one job a few years ago everyone was given a Mister or Miss Men character title. I was given Mr Daydream. It made sense because I often drift into contemplation and fantasy. At school, I used to get told off sometimes for gazing out of the window or up In a ceiling.

So, I am interested in knowing why you chose your particular name and whether there is some story behind its creation.

I chose "Pattern-Chaser" as my net-name a long time ago, before TBL created the World Wide Web. At about that time, Alias Smith and Jones featured a gag that involved everyone have a 'true Indian name'. [The way we referred to indigenous Americans at that time was, shamefully, "Indians".] This gag caused certain whimsies of mine to coalesce into a name, the first one that I chose for myself. I liked it, it felt right; so I carried on using it.

P.S. My choice of name wasn't as trivial as my words, above, might make it seem. I already had some vague ideas, and the gag acted only as a trigger; it didn't influence the name I chose.

Nothing philosophical about my handle. Lucky was my nickname in school and I play a Riviera guitar. Lucky Riviera sounded like a 2 bit gambler, so I shortened it to LuckyR.

I just liked the 'feel' of it. And I was young enough that the shamanic search for a spirit guide seemed romantic, and choosing a name like mine was the first step in that. People do stuff for all kinds of crazy reasons.

I am glad that someone else has an interest in shamanic spirit guides. It may be a little different orientated to the logic of philosophy, but, as JeckDaydream my philosophy involves one foot in the realm of fantasy and metaphorical understanding of life.
