I think you might be tilting at windmills here.

I've met people who believe all sorts of things that seem strange to me in the 45+ years that I've been talking to people about philosophy. I don't like to assume what views people have, or assume that they can't have some unusual view.

Usually people are happy to share what their views are if you ask them--at least that's what's always seemed to happen when I talk to folks in person rather than online.

So, Atla seems to be implying, rather than saying out right, that the subject/object dichotomy is made up (implying a myth or falsehood).

You said that you percieve 90% of people on philosophy forums to be idealists. Did you spend your life among extreme idealists and solipsists, or what caused this?

There's not usually a "so what" to what I say other than what I'm saying. I like to be straightforward and not beat around the bush. That's why when people ask me what my point is I say, "I always type my point."

This sentence would probably be clearer as:

"Okay, so, maybe he could just give some hint of the colloquial Eastern as well as the Eastern/Western philosophical idea he's referring to?"

The aim was to get you to mention the idea you want common westerners to get around to. The aim wasn't to get you to quibble about whether it's an idea from eastern or western philosophy or both. The comment was in response to your "Life would be so much easier if people wouldn't forever conflate 'human/organism' consciousness with 'the' consciousness. Will the West really need another 50-100 years for that?" "The west" obviously didn't mean "the philosophical west" then but something like "the colloquial west" or "the common west," etc.

So what is "'the' consciousness" that you're referring to?

I don't think anything like "I have no idea why people are interested in consciousness," and my view isn't functionalism. My view is also nothing like eliminative materialism, of course.
