We are all different and this is what makes us beautiful. There is nothing we " must" do.
If we truly want something, it's a matter of simply making the choice of committing to the path of attaining it.

I agree that my want ( choice) is the most important thing. If I want to sit and sip my tea under the stars ( I do enjoy this), this is true happiness in all honesty

If I want to be a millionaire or best-selling author then it simply is an expression of my pleasure to pay the price on my journey of attainment .

Hi, Scott. Getting what you want is key. When you make the choice about what you want, then you have to take the steps to procure it. You don't need it you want it. If you find out later that you don't need it, no big deal, you didn't need it in the first place. You wanted it. Does that sound right?

I agree with your three principles for happiness Scott. Happiness for me is total acceptance of myself with all my flaws, it's having a purpose every day of my life to get up, turn up, and do the best I can. It's supporting others when life isn't fair.

About # 1, "there's nothing that you must do" seems to mean that an obligation is a bad thing? It seems that the advice is just live and enjoy without feeling that at times you have to or must do something, because when that's the feeling you are unhappy? I would like you, Scott, to please tell me whether my thinking is correct or not.
