I have a question about this in relation to parenting. Does anyone have ideas on how to rephrase things when telling stubborn children to do something? When it comes to things like homework, I find myself often telling them they "have to" do it. They're elementary school so logic and reasoning doesn't work too well yet!

THE CHOICE

"As always, the choice is yours, and when it comes to your choices, you always get exactly what you want." This statement points us to the right direction. Our choices will be in the directions of our goals. We shouldn't be limited by negativity or false imagination. It's that simple.

I agree with you 💯% and I found myself avoiding those words since i signed up for your mentoring program. I feel more free and focused.

Letting go of the misery-inducing words and reprogramming your mind, goes a long way in taking control.

The words are apparently self-destructive. Extremely difficult to navigate away from using.

Realising ourselves from the shackles of the words like must, have to, need to, should, ought, and try is the only means to realize a lasting peace in our lives.

Free-spirited happiness leads to success, not vice versa. We are not our minds. We don't have to believe what the mind says. We can easily reprogram our minds so that they can serve us rather than have us serve them. We can be free-spirited. Then, we can reprogram our minds which is just like swapping out parts in our car. True and uplifting words!

I would agree, as the words feel pressuring, causing anxiety and stress. I have had moments when I thought, what if I don't 'have to'? And that's what saved the day.

The Six Dangerous Misery-Inducing Words: "Must", "Have to", "Need to", "Should", "Ought", and "Try". I used them in the past but since reading In It Together, my mind dictated and I followed up with the Misery-Inducing Words: I am now liberated from such thinking.
