What the story of the dead moth larvae means to me is that the producers of gentically engineered brands want to make money from the sales of these brands which are associated with chemical companies such as Monsanto. The way in which much money can be made from genetically engineered brands is twofold. One is that the seeds are sterile and so a proportion of the grain crop cannot usefully be retained for sowing and the farmer has to buy newly genetically modified seeds from the chemical company. The other is that the genetically engineered seeds are engineered so that they are pesticide-poisoning resistant: this pesticide-poisoning resistance results in the farmer's being able to apply huge and environmentally unhealthy amounts of herbicide or other pesticides to his land, all sold to him by the same chemical company.
