You gotta take these things with a pinch of salt. Like astrology, or Morrissey's political views. Astrology is a way for people to chat about their personalities. I'd take a book like the one described by Consul as a tongue-in-cheek coffee table curiosity to buy as a Christmas present for a Bond fan if they've already got too many socks. Even if it isn't.

The Bond movies aren't philosophically deep arthouse movies, but they contain certain themes or motifs which are philosophically, especially ethically relevant such as Bond's machismo and his often not so gentlemanly sexual behavior toward women.

If that were so, I wouldn't disagree. But based on the seriousness of the quote, it's to be taken as rendered; there don't seem to be any joke inflections within it that would otherwise question its intent. There's a big difference between liking Bond movies and taking it seriously as philosophy, which the book seemingly is meant to do. No doubt there are many who will do precisely that, otherwise it wouldn't have been quoted explicitly stating its philosophical merits. What's probably not mentioned in the book - wouldn't waste my time or money reading it - is that the prototypical impersonation of Bond, Sean Connery, had little regard for the role or character but continued to play the part being seriously well-paid for it. For a fraction of that amount, I'd impersonate the roadrunner if the distance between the cliff overhang and drop isn't more than two feet.
