You're welcome, P-C. This thread's full of pop and other music that is, simply, too harsh a medicine for some ageing nervous systems. I loved harsh music too as a young 'un. Now it feels like an assault.

Here is a piece of folk/jazz fusion ear candy by David Crosby's sband, with his son on piano and the remarkable Jeff Pevar on guitar. So many tingles moments!

One-man industrial band and what's most interesting - he fabricated his own controllers (pretty much hacked Maschine with an Arduino):

Nothing can be obtained by grasping at the wind
There is no escape from the dualism of life, vanity of vanities

I am embittered towards humanity for its failures
Yet I possess all of these same shortcomings

There is grief in wisdom, there is sorrow in truth
Yet, the heart of the wise is in the house of mourning
And by sad countenance the heart is made stronger in time

So, I embrace this burden and weep for the fools that chase the wind
Those are great lyrics. I've never heard of Hopesfall, but I shall be checking them out now...
They went through a vocalist change where the lyrics went from fantastic to kinda garbage.

The best albums for lyrics are the ep (No Wings to Speak Of) and The Satellite Years (which also happen to be the best musically).

Their first album, The Frailty of Words, is explicitly Christian and still has amazing lyrics, but you can tell they were still developing their sound so I don’t like it as much (I don’t mind the blatant Christian aspect of it).

In fact even Grasping at the Wind, the lyrics you liked, has elements of Ecclesiastes to it.

After The Satellite Years the new vocalist has much more abstract lyrics that I just don’t really care for. They read like nonsense.

My searching eyes have never been so intrigued
To see you now
I guess you found a way
To make ten minutes last forever

And with each passing moment,
We drift further away
Closer to our chosen paths

But I can't help
Remembering what was
What might have been

But I have been warned by those
Who have passed this way before
And to them I am grateful
And as for you I am also grateful

And I pray that you find
The peace that you’ve been longing for

This is the intro to the anime Tokyo Ghoul, and don’t discount it if you’re not into anime. This song’s barely a minute long and it’s so good that it brings me to tears from the sheer force of emotion behind it

An extra on Skinny Puppy's 1985 'Bites' album. Really forward thinking IMHO
