Philosophy Discussion Forums | A Humans-Only Club for Open-Minded Discussion & Debate

Humans-Only Club for Discussion & Debate

A one-of-a-kind oasis of intelligent, in-depth, productive, civil debate.

Topics are uncensored, meaning even extremely controversial viewpoints can be presented and argued for, but our Forum Rules strictly require all posters to stay on-topic and never engage in ad hominems or personal attacks.

Chat about anything your heart desires here, just be civil. Factual or scientific questions about philosophy go here (e.g. "When was Socrates born?"), and so most homework help questions belong here. Note, posts in the off-topic section will not increase new members post counts. This includes the introductions and feedback sections.

I lied, one more. While I love Courtney the most, can't post iwrestledabearonce without their original vocalist too.

When he was older he made music which is not so sweet. For example, listen to his 1995 album TILT, or his 2006 album THE DRIFT, or (the most extreme one) his 2014 album SOUSED:

By the way, the lead singer of the Shangri-Las, Mary Weiss, made a good solo album titled "Dangerous Game" in 2007:

I remember he had was a track where the drummer's instrument was a large slab of meat. Splat. Splat. Have not been able to find it again, unfortunately.

"See the stars come falling down from the sky.
Gently passing, they kiss your tears as you cry."

Did I get it right? 😉

Not bad for 50+ years ago. I think it came out in '66 or '67. :)

I listened to this yesterday. Brilliant! Music-hall rock 'n' roll; heavy-rock vaudeville. If you don't know Alex, maybe you should?

P.S. Stick to the early albums; the later ones were very, er, variable in (musical) quality. 😉👍

I'll be damned if I know what the lyrics are about but there is much to love about this forgotten Midnight Oil track - cowbell(!), cool riffing, beautiful harmonies, a funky guitar solo, powerful atmosphere and creative arranging.

They were a fantastic live band too. I saw them a number of times at bars in the 80s and they had more energy, vibe and skill than any of them - including greats like ACDC and Cold Chisel.

Been looking for this song and singer for decades. Suddenly the name Falco popped up in my mind and right at the first click, there it was.
