Unify, my friends.

As long as they are peaceful, find common ground with those you would otherwise think of as your enemies or as most different from you. Show them kindness. Show them understanding. Listen to them more than you speak to them.

In form, we are citizens of the world. In spirit, we are citizens of the universe. What divides us and differentiates us is illusions. As my book, In It Together, shows, we are one, not merely poetically, but truly.

When anyone throw stones at a peaceful person for any reason, I dare you to stand in front of those stones.

Even when the stones are thrown legally by a government, I dare you to break the law and stand between those stones and their peaceful victim.

Even when the stones are thrown at someone who is disgusting and despicable--maybe they are a racist or a homophobe or a coward or an unrepentant devil-worshiping sinner--but yet if they are non-violent, then you come to their defense.

If there isn't freedom for all, there isn't freedom at all.

If you don't support free speech for the people with whom you most strongly disagree and whose words you find most offensive, then you don't support free speech at all. Support the right of people you agree with to say things you agree with isn't support free speech. Everyone supports that. Even Hitler supported that. Even Stalin supported that. Even the most violent oppressive tyrants support that.

Voltaire is paraphrased as saying, I may disagree and strongly disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Let us expand that to support not only free speech but freedom to do anything as long as it is done peacefully. Then it is this:

"I may strongly disagree with what you peacefully do, and I may even find it very offensive and very disgusting, but I will defend to the death your right to peacefully do it."

I ask you to say this to your worst enemies and those who disgust and offend you most:

"As long as you don't initiate violence against someone else, I seek to defend you from having violence initiated against you. If stone-throwers come for you, I will stand in front of those stones for you, both literally and figuratively."

With love,
Eckhart Aurelius Hughes

Here comes the fundamentality of right to opinion. Everything anyone on earth says, is their opinion. If everyone has the right to speak, everyone should also have the right to have sn opinion. Violence impedes this right. Have your opinion but be peaceful.

Quite true. We need to choose to stand up against any sort of harm to basic human rights occurring from any source. What we are often reluctant to do is taking the side of who we dislike or disagree with when it comes to defending their rights. And this aspect is cleverly used by the oppressors to divide and conquer, because it is way too easy to stand up against a divided front than a unified front. This makes unifying a necessity.
