A Humans-Only Philosophy Club

The Philosophy Forums at OnlinePhilosophyClub.com aim to be an oasis of intelligent in-depth civil debate and discussion. Topics discussed extend far beyond philosophy and philosophers. What makes us a philosophy forum is more about our approach to the discussions than what subject is being debated. Common topics include but are absolutely not limited to neuroscience, psychology, sociology, cosmology, religion, political theory, ethics, and so much more.

This is a humans-only philosophy club. We strictly prohibit bots and AIs from joining.

Use this philosophy forum to discuss and debate general philosophy topics that don't fit into one of the other categories.

This forum is NOT for factual, informational or scientific questions about philosophy (e.g. "What year was Socrates born?"). Those kind of questions can be asked in the off-topic section.

Sy Borg, was your MRI to identify the site of your arthritis? MRIs are great. They've shown up areas where my psoriatic arthritis and osteoarthritis are attacking my bones and joints. And I had another two steroid injections last week to deal with arthritis in the sacrum and lower back. I've also got it in the neck. Don't you just love aging?

The steroids injections work well for me, too. They have side effects but not as bad as taking oral steroids for prolonged periods. I don't care if I have to have steroid injections every few months. Better than not being able to get around and enjoy working in the garden. Chronic pain not only darkens your days but can be very isolating. It's hard to enjoy socialising when every move, and even sitting, hurts.

Good luck with the gut and getting some relief for the arthritis. And, no, I'm not ready to pull the plug either, but it's as comfort to know that it will be an option if needed down the track. Our legislation has only been in place for as year or so - we're bit slow down here in Tas.

My neck and jaw have given me gyp for years now. Good to hear that neck injections help. I was worried that it would be too risky.

Life lesson to any younger readers: if you have any hyper-mobile joints, you need to develop strong muscles around your loose joints or the joints will wear down and you will end up being an old fart, complaining about your pains.

I gave up socialising too. When pains or itches strike, I want to be near hot packs, ice packs, or to be able to crack my back on a roller or lie down. Old farts, eh?

Ageing is unpleasant but still it's preferable to the alternative ...

Killing is always wrong, does neither really solve the problem, nor leads to else then more pain.

Maybe good to educated compassion.

May good householder be eager in develop mindfulness, always knowing the breath well and use it to get body well known to be able to stop trying to hold on it, just maintaining to go on with just that task.
