Equally unsurprisingly, some of these people repeat what other such people have said, if it helps to spread their message. Greta is not under the spell of those who would use her as a mouthpiece. She is one of many who are trying to get the rest of us to recognise our state of denial, and perhaps persuade us to do something about it before it's too late.

First to stop doing more damage, and then to try to undo, repair, or restore that which we have already damaged.

Stop? How is that possible? Not merely because people have needs and wants and bills to pay - but undoing, restoring or repairing - in themselves would depend on systems that have environmental consequences. You can't build a windmill without steel and cement. Stop is not an option. A more apt metaphor is that video of the guys changing the car tire - while the car is in motion.

How come a 19 year old girl is the most honest and articulate person seen on the news this year?

Actually, everything she says is written by someone called George Monbiot, which I know, because I was at school with him. he is a very intelligent person, but he has a lazy eye problem, so he found someone to say things for him. Have a nice day.

And are you proud of the fact you are unable to understand Greta Thunberg's quest? And do you think it's clever to look at a young girl and see only her prettiness?

What Im trying not to think about actually, is that George Monbiot is dying from yet another bout of cancer, and Greta, to whom he's been a family friend since she was six years old, decided not to go to COP27 because she is worried he might pass away while she is gone. Its actually very upsetting to me, because he was a very good friend to me at school. He is a very kind man, he devoted all his life to caring about climate change, and I'm really going to miss his sense of humor. And now I've got some work to do for cop27 myself that will take about a month. Perhaps by Thanksgiving you will have something nice to say.
