The drastic change is simply a whole new world view from the children who are no longer children but now adults. The media, the society, the institutions -- "you must work for the tech company or you'd be miserable for the rest of your career" -- all have an influence on this. Think about the time not too long ago when no "normal" couple would be proud living in a van, a tiny house, a tent, a makeshift commune. Now they're proudly showcasing their adventures in videos as if they're accomplishments.
What might be the reason for this drastic change? Why children loose the potential that they show initially? Is it because the parents try to guide them? Or is it because of some other reason? Should children be allowed to choose their own path alone? Or should parents intervene into their choices?
Not all musically talented people would want to have a career in making music.
