God on Trial verdict

If there is no God, there can never be true justice here on Earth.

If Bob murders John, he can be tried and sentenced to death. That leaves two dead people. True justice would mean that both Bob and John keep their lives. The same applies to the millions who died in the Holocaust. We kill each other and wonder why the world is not a nice place to live.

God has the power to give people a greater good life after death.

God sent you, me and everyone else to be a part of the solution. If we are not part of the solution then we add to the problems of injustice. A holocaust happens pretty much every year and it goes unnoticed. Millions of children die each year as a result of grinding poverty, starvation and preventable disease. Mankind's response is to spend trillions on warfare instead of food.

We don't want God in our lives, so why should God do anything for us?

When Yahweh does anything with us, it includes mass murder.

Why would you want such an evil god?

I think we all want a god, as an ideal, in our lives, but not a genocidal satanic god like Yahweh/Jesus.

If you are concerned about the Holocaust, it should be Mankind on trial. It seems that throughout history we seem to have abandoned God, so why should God do anything for us?

Life is temporary; whether we die from old age or murder. If the Jews truly had faith in God, they would believe in a greater good life after death.

Jews have always put man above god and believe in shoal, the grave, as our final destination.

To Jesus, man was god, as shown when he asked, --- have ye forgotten that ye are gods --- and that they, the Jews, are not to go against the scriptures that point to that fact.

I have no particular concern for the holocaust.

I an concerned with Christians who praise evil and a genocidal gods.

Our civilised consciences do put mankind on trial. If you look through past Philosophy Club discussions you find much on that very theme. Christianity's answer to human guilt is that Christ came to save us from it.

Have you ever asked a Christian what he was condemned for in the first place?

They can never say what it was.

They also ignore the fact that Jesus preached directly against the notions of having another take our guilt.

It is a sin to use Jesus as savior yet Christians do not care.

If morals was a Christian concern, they would have done a lot better, just as secular law did.

Religions should be encouraged to catch up to better secular morals.

A more appropriate way to have asked: Can religion be good in spite of ALL religions being false? I would say yes. Belief systems do not need to be true, may in fact be immaterial since the brain, mind, call it what you will, seldom requires actual truth to affect one's state of being. Inherent within consciousness lies the necessity to ritualize thought, which has no relevance to any truth abstraction. Much like the universe itself, it devolves to a process in which the word True was never synonymous with Truth; more often than not it emerged as a separation from it like ships leaving their harbours.

A more appropriate way to have asked: Can religion be good in spite of ALL religions being false? I would say yes.

You can make judgements about society; by the way they treat the poor and oppressed. Scholars have gone through the Bible and highlighted about three thousand passages that refer to justice for widows, orphans, refugees and the poor. The Quran and other faiths put a great emphasis on looking after the poor and oppressed.

The Bible Society have produced a version of the Bible which highlights in vivid orange the 3000 verses in the Bible that relate to poverty and justice. Flick through The Poverty and Justice Bible and there are highlighted verses on almost every page – only a spattering in books such as 1 & 2 Samuel and Chronicles but the orange highlights grow in density into Psalms, Isaiah and Jeremiah. When it comes to books such as Amos or James, the majority of the page turns orange.

That would be credible if we frail men could combat the evil there is. We can't stop natural disasters. Will the flood stand before God and be morally judged ? Will the gene that caused a baby to be born with no brain stand before God and be judged? The scale of evil is far too much to be explained by God's testing us and you have not looked squarely at facts.

We allow millions of children to die as the result of grinding poverty, starvation and preventable disease. I can't imagine what it must be like for God to look down on creation and witness this cruelty.

Will the flood stand before God and be morally judged ?

The story of creation is barely over and we get to Genesis 6;

5 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. 6 The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. 7 So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

I can only imagine that what God saw at the time of Noah, would only escalate as time progressed.

If you can only see a satanic god; I can understand why you don't believe in his existence. I don't believe this satanic god as the creator of all that is seen and unseen either.
