On a social level I can see why people don't talk music much. It ends up being a zone (in general) where the most important thing to know about a chair is how bad of a tea cup it is. I too easily forget that I'm in Sparta.

Non-musicians seem to stop talking about music when the urges and responsibilities of life overcome their interest in music, somewhere from teens to the twenties, depending on how intense their interest.

Also, I want to take back what I said about TOAPP. I disagree with your friend as it's a terrific number. Waiting Man is the tune I was thinking of that bores me. Sorry for any confusion. My bad.
