Sadly missed.I had a coworker who was a big fan of both The Beatles and Pink Floyd, slightly in favor of The Beatles, and recommend that I get Revolver and Piper at the Gates of Dawn to compare them - IMHO Piper was more my speed - the soundscapes were deeper, and I can't remember exactly what I thought on Syd's lyrics but I would have to guess that he prototyped the rather thoughtful, cryptic, and sharp-witted style that Gilmour ran with.
