Agreed. For me Yes, especially early Yes gave my ears that challenge that they so craved. Whilst many of my contemporaries were turning their heads to mush with ABBA and Disco, I was going the headphone crash out with those complex sounds.
Still, my tastes are mellowing with age, and these days I especially love me some Jean Luc Ponty:
