Are Artificial Intelligence and religious belief incompatible?

Why would they? They have some nice AI's right now that play a killer game of go for instance, far better than any program written to actually play go. Do the religious types deny that such a device exists?

They invented it. It seems to be the religious right that pushes for more intrusive surveillance, all in the name of national security and however they spin it.
Look at Santa: Religion for children. Santa has his magic snowball and knows if you've been naughty or nice. Same story the adults are told.

Should humanity be in rebellion against the AI future we see coming?

If it is put in charge, or is let out of its cage, then yes, it is a scary prospect, but no worse than humanity being in charge of itself. We're not exactly on a track for sustained civilization.

I don't think many religions posit a deity that is artificial. It would imply that there is another creator of the creator.

According to the modern paradigm it is the brain/machine that creates the mind/god. Therefore, first the Big AI Machine created itself and then it invented/produced its programmer and programmed itself. Machine first, then becoming its own Self-Programming Programmer second.

It might just turn the whole organic sheath of the planet into burnable fuel. An AI may simply view everything as potential expansion for itself, a bit like its daddy does. And since it is likely not to be organic,it will not need an ecosystem, at least not a dna based one. Either the AIs will be used as weapons slash radicallyc competative tools by organizations and countries or they will use us. Either way it's a giving over of power to amoral, extremebly dangerous genius amoebas. But silicon based ones. Maybe life forms, maybe not. Smart viruses. A fukishima or Chernobyl with this technology will **** us all up.

I'm not a more usual anti-natalist, but they believe it is immoral to have children since this is making a choice for a future sentient being who may suffer (or will suffer). Some of them are utterly nihilistic in the everyday sense of hating life. Some are more focused on the moral issue of, more or less, putting a being in harm's way without its consent. But all life that is alive is consenting to life. In fact it is demanding it with every cell. I find the antinatalists annoying.
